Comic Buzz for Batman today

Today the word is all over Facebook and a few sights that Damian Wayne, the current Robin is killed off in one of the Bat-Man titles.  Most were not surprised that he was killed, but this marks the second Robin to be killed.

Toy Show 2013's Predators, Aliens, and Prometheus

The Aliens, and Predators lines stay a hot item with many followers collecting both if not just one of the lines.  And with the Aliens connecting with Prometheus, it is only fair to add it to the line up.

I am not going to go too far into discussing the Aliens line tho since I have done so already in a previous posting.  I ado have a few closer up pics of the ones I posted before and figured that they would fit in nicely with this section on Predators and Prometheus since all three are connected to one another.

The Predators line will also have a line from the first Predator movie that includes two size scales.  One will be the size range that we are already use to, and then a larger scale will also come out.  In the picture (left) you can see the larger Arnold next to the normal scale figure. Arnold will be released in both combat gear and covered in mud.

 The close up of the mud version of Arnold may give you more idea of the quality each toy will have with details and articulation.

 On the right you can see a closer pic of the combat gear Arnold what is sure to come with loads of weapons.








I included a pic of the small Predator that was pictured with the large Arnold toys, just in case you want a better look at the stealth predator.

One of the best looking toys that will be in the Predators line will be the trophy case where your Predators.

In this close up of the trophy case you can see the skulls a bit closer and get a concept of the detail that will be sculpted in the background.

The Predator figures will have normal sized Arnold figures as well.  They will also be presented in a nice display box.  Some of the items shown have been released by the time of this posting, but some are yet to come.



Prometheus has a few figures in store now that you can like the Predator figures find in FYE stores right now, but like the other line, Prometheus still have a few items in store for us in 2013.

Just like the lines before it, Prometheus will be very well sculpted and be sold in displayable boxes that will leave any collector wanting to show them off.

At the show the Prometheus figures are shown with a nice black display stand, but by what I have read, these figures won't be packaged with any form of base, unless this changes at production.

Man of Steel Statues 2013

At the 2013 Toy Show, the Man of Steel statues were some of the biggest jaw droppers on display.  Each of the statues looked like they had walked out of the trailers for the summer film.  The sculpts came from scans of each actor/actress made.  Superman and many of the others have movable capes for display, and each stand on a well crafted stand.  The key piece in the line is Superman, of course.

The General Zod's armor looks a lot like something from the movie Prometheus. But it looks really nice as what may be the second most wanted piece in the set.

The only one that was on display without a moveable cape was the Bank Vault Superman, that looks just like the scene from the movie trailer.

This is the summer movie I am most excited for.

News for Star Wars in 2013

After focusing on the younger age groups for the past few years, it looks like Star Wars is planing something for the collectors with their new Black Series.  Unlike the normal open market figures, this series will be offered in a large scale (6 inches). 

Most of the people who got to go to the show and have blogged about it, all have said that these toys have a striking likeness to their actors and of far better quality than the 3.75" scale toys.

Some of the ones that are noted as being released by Hasbro are, Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and R2-D2, along with many more, as some of the photos have shown.  The new packaging for the Black Series allows each figure to be fully displayed for those who keep their toys in the box as an investment.

The kids are also in for some new toys this year.  Star Wars will be given Titan class figures, like the Marvel brand was by Hasbro.  Honestly I think their quality are far from being up to par, and I think parents would be better off buying the basic toys in the line for the kids to play with.  When it comes to the electronic light sabers, some really neat things are to be expected.  The light saber that will be the most wanted by the kids and those who like to role play will be Anakin's new saber that will change from blue to red.

Once Upon a Zombie

The 2013 Toy Show had even more dolls that want to cash in on the popularity of the Monster High dolls.  The Once Upon a Zombie line is not associated with Disney, but it does take the characters from fairy tales that the Disney Princesses are based on, into a fun horror direction. 

The company DID get the blessing from Disney to use their official Disney names of the fairy tell characters, but you may be able to tell from the picture above that some changes were made to the looks, other than the dead style.  In the image, you can see Cinderella, Belle, The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White.  Girls will go nuts over these to go with their Monster High dolls.  This line should be a fun way to to move girls into the zombie movement without the frights from the Waling Dead series.

More for the 2013 Marvel toys

We have already covered some of the 2013 Marvel toys such as Legends and Universe lines, along with some of the sets for kids, but many other things were on show this year.  I have pictured a display for the Legends from the show.  I do point out the Archangel in black and silver, the normal set has listed the one in blue and purple.  Maybe I wasn't incorrect on my suspicions of them doing an open market version of his X-Force suit.  Also in the image is the Hit Monkey build.  I still think doing a tiny figure as a build is crazy on Marvel's behalf.  I still remember how a tiny toy wasn't used as a gimmick to make buyers buy a set of toys, but was an accessory, like Howard the Duck being packaged with the Silver Surfer.  I still think the ToyBiz line is the superior line of Legends.

NECA is doing some highly-detailed Marvel figures this year that should drive the collectors crazy.  They are going to put out some of the Avengers style figures for Iron Man and Captain America, and rumor has it, more of the team as well.  With the open market lines such as Iron Man 3's cheaply made look, it is good to see that the collectors haven't been forgotten.  These will be out soon, and should be worth the price.

Spider-Man is getting a new series of HeroClix in 2013.  The NECA company is going to try to latch on to the popularity of Skylanders by coming out with a base that will link new pieces into a video game.  I will try to post more about the game as I get information on it.

Iron Man 3 did get a display this year, but as I said before, these toys are far from satisfying a collector.  They seem very cheaply made, and have very little to them to appeal to anyone but the kids who will want them for play.  With such great figures as the NECA line, and some of the basic figures in the Universe and Legends line, I wouldn't spend out money on the Iron Man 3 toys when so many better Marvel items are on the way.

What toy line would be compleat without the dress up items?  The Iron Man 3 line has a helmet and gauntlet that are slated to be hitting stores, and a new hammer for Thor 2 next year was on show.  The hammer has a nice lighting show and sound effect.  After seeing the Iron Man 3 toys, I am a bit afraid to see the Captain America 2 and Thor 2 figure lines.

Hasbro is introducing what they call the Titan line in most of their toy lines this year.  I showed one of these when I talked about the Iron Man 3 line.  The two I have seen in stores already (Iron Man and Spider-Man) look cheaply made, and not very collectible.  Out of the photos from the Toy Show, the best one looks to be the Hulk, as long as he isn't changed by production.

Wolverine's new movie also comes with new toys.  I will have to see what the figures look like up close to see if they are better than the Iron Man 3 line (I can only hope they are).  I haven't seen anything that looks like it is from the movie more than it is the comic book line.  We may even get a surprise with other X-Men appearing in the wave.

Up coming Lone Ranger toys

NECA will be producing the figures for the upcoming Lone Ranger movie.  The basic line will be 4 inches and will include The Lone Ranger, Tonto, and the villain.  Each main character will also be available with their horse.

The larger scale figures are to be highly-detailed, and so far, I have yet to find a full line up for this set, other than Tonto and the Ranger.  Those who were lucky enough to go to the Toy Show, said that this Tonto looks just like Johnny Depp.  NECA seems to have gone all out for the sculpting of this line for figures.

The Lone Ranger will also be getting a line of Hero Clix this year.  I am not sure how many pieces will be in the set, but it looks like they will be available in single packs and as a starter set.

Like many other Disney live action films, The Lone Ranger will also be getting a LEGO line as well.  By this image, I wonder if the LEGO Lone Ranger game is also in the works.
